Patriots lose in Super Bowl

The Patriots lost to the Giants in the Super Bowl by 3 points, 17-14. I was personally hoping for the Patriots to go 19-0, but it didn't happen. They did not play like they have all season, and they lost because of it. I guess there's always next year.

Another Duke Win

Number 3 Duke Bluedevils beat North Carolina State on Thursday, 92-72. The Bluedevils were losing at halftime 46-37, but had another big rally in the second half to comeback and win. They outscored NC State 55-26 in the second half.

Lakers trade for Gasol

The Lakers traded Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton (rookie), and 2 first-round draft picks for Pau Gasol. Gasol, a 7-footer, should help the Lakers' frontcourt.

Santana goes to Mets

Johan Santana and the Mets agreed to a $137.5 million dollar contract extension for 6 years on Friday. This was needed to finalize the trade deal with Minnesota. This is also a record for a pitcher. The trade was that the Mets get Santana, and give up 4 prospects to the Twins

Hawks get blown out by Suns

The Atlanta Hawks lost to the Phoenix Suns 125-92. The Hawks were led by Marvin Williams, who had 18 points and 8 rebounds. The Suns were led by Amare Stoudemire, who had 24 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Steve Nash had 10 points and 10 assists for the Suns as well. The Hawks move to 18-23, while the Suns are 33-13 on the year.

Denver loses big to New Orleans

The Denver Nuggets lost to the New Orleans Hornets 117-93. Chris Paul led the Hornets with 23 points, 17 assists, and 9 rebounds. Allen Iverson led the Nuggets with 23 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Carmelo Anthony did not play. The Nuggets are now 26-18, while the Hornets are 32-12.

Brady practices with team

Tom Brady was back in practice on Monday. He missed 3 practices last week because of a sprained ankle. He says that it will not affect him during the Super Bowl. His teammates don't seem to be worried about it either. It is said that he had a slight limp while in practice though.

Shaun White wins SuperPipe

Shaun White took home first place in the Men's Snowboard SuperPipe at the Winter X games 12. He had a score of 96.66. All 3 of his runs were over 90 (93.00, 91.66, 96.66). He was the only one with a score higher than 90. Second place was 88.00 by Ryoh Aono

Mavericks beat Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets lost to the Dallas Mavericks 90-85. The Nuggets were without Carmelo Anthony again, while Allen Iverson had 23 points, 9 assists, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals. The Mavericks were led by Dirk Nowitzki who had 32 points and 11 rebounds. Denver is now 26-17, while Dallas is 30-13.

Hawks lose to Portland

The Atlanta Hawks lost 94-93 to the Portland Trailblazers. The Hawks fall to 18-22, while Portland is at 26-18 on the season. Atlanta was led by Joe Johnson, who had 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Duke recovers to beat Maryland

The #3 Duke Bluedevils beat Maryland 93-84 on Sunday. Duke trailed by the most points this season, 9 points at halftime. Duke was led by senior DeMarcus Nelson, who had 19 of his 27 points in the second half. Maryland was coming off an upset win over #1 North Carolina. Duke moves to 17-1, 5-0 in the ACC.

Brady without the boot

Tom Brady was finally found by the media. This time, there was no boot on his foot. The Patriots had a Super Bowl departure rally, and Brady was there. His teammates and all expect him to be in the super bowl, and the ankle sprain shouldn't bother him.

Djokovic wins 2008 Australian Open

Number 3 seed Novak Djokovic beat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in 4 sets to win the 2008 Australian Open. He won with 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-6. This is Djokovic's first Gram Slam title.

Shaun White 2nd in Superpipe prelims

Shaun White was 2nd with a score of 88.33 in the Men's Snowboard SuperPipe prelims. Ryoh Aono, with a score of 92.33, took first place so far.

Shaun White takes 3rd in Slopstyle

Shaun White was 3rd in the Men's Snowboard Slopestyle Finals at the Winter X Games 12. His score of 83.33 was beaten by Kevin Pearce with 88.33, and Andreas Wiig with 92.00.

Tiger expanding lead

Tiger Woods is now 18 under par in the Buick Invitational. He has an eight stroke lead over Stewart Cink, who is 10 under and in second place. Woods shot a 66 on Saturday. There is still one more round left.

Heat end losing streak

The Miami Heat beat the Indiana Pacers on Saturday night, ending a 15-game losing streak. They were led by Dwyane Wade, who had 35 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Miami is now 9-33 on the year, while the Pacers are 19-26.

Shaun White with best run in Slopestyle Prelims

Shaun White had a best run of 95.00 in the men's snowboard slopestyle prelims on Friday at the Winter X Games 12. Second place was Kevin Pearce with a score of 90.33. They were the only 2 with a score of 90 or better.

Tiger Woods is on top after 2 rounds at the Buick Invitational. He is up by 4 strokes. Kevin Streelman is the closest to him through Friday.

The Atlanta Hawks beat the Seattle SuperSonics 99-90 on Friday night. The hawks were led by Marvin Williams, who had a career best 33 points. This victory puts the hawks at 18-21, while the SuperSonics are 9-34 on the season.

Denver beats New Jersey

The Denver Nuggets beat the New Jersey Nets 100-85 on Friday night. Allen Iverson had 30 points, 5 assists, 3 steals, and 2 rebounds to lead the way for Denver. Carmelo Anthony did not play due to injury.

Sharapova wins Australian Open

The 5th seed Maria Sharapova beat the 4th seed Ana Ivanovic in the finals to win the Australian Open. Sharapova won in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3. It is her 3rd Gram Slam title.

Where's Tom Brady?

Apparently, Tom Brady has been hiding from the Media, or is missing practice. According to this article at espn.com, the media can't find him. His picture was taken once with a boot on his foot, and since then, he has been hiding from the media The report is that it is a high-ankle sprain, but won't keep him out of the super bowl.

Federer Loses at Australian Open

Roger Federer lost to number 3 seed Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open Semifinals. This loss snaps a streak of 10 straight Gram Slam Final appearances for Federer. Djokovic won in 3 sets: 7-5, 6-3, 7-6.

Djokovic will meet Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the finals.

Nadal Loses in SemiFinal at Australian Open

Rafael Nadal lost to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in straight sets: 6-2, 6-3, 6-2. Tsonga now awaits the winner of Federer and Djokovic.
